Default Does your Haban 60" cut good?

I have a 1782 with the 60" haban on it. it cuts "ok", but even with fresh sharpened blades, and full throttle, you have to go pretty slow to get it to not miss grass. I'm talking like 1 or 2 setting, and I have to slow down more in turns. Just doesn't seem right to me. this thing oughta eat grass up with the diesel on it and running full throttle. anyone else have this issue? I'd love to speed it up but don't think I can. its the early deck. with the smaller pulley, so can't swap to a smaller one as I don't think one is available smaller.

Have you checked the engine RPM?

My Haban never cut as good as my Gravely, but, the Gravely is taller, and FASTER!!

BUT, the Haban should cut better than the deck such as one on a 1450.

Mine works like a dream. I cut 4 acres in about 2.5 hours with a good hill out back. Going up that and throwing heavy grass is the only time I need to back the speed off some

Something is wrong, it should have no problem. The 1782 should have the large PTO pulley on it and an early Haban would have the small deck pulley so you already have it sped up. I'm running an early Haban on my 2182 but I changed the deck pulley to the late style to slow my deck down. I can drop the engine RPMs down to about 1/2 and it still cuts good. Are your baffles in place?

pretty sure they are all there. the deck is in good shape. it has the blades on it with hardened edges too. the engine is running wide open. I've manually checked it.

Some of the hardened blades are "sand" blades.

Sand blades have a smaller "wing", and lift the grass less, they move less air, so as to lift less sand.

Sand blades will cut longer, but, not as good as a regular blade.

You might want to try standard blades.

When I looked for gator blades, they said they didn't make them for the 60" decks. I also found out that the regular Oregon blades have been discontinued. Your dealer is about your only option now. The Oregon number is 91-442. I just looked and there are some on Ebay and on Amazon right now. I think they were all under $30 versus $70 from a CC dealer.

Did 2 acres yesterday before the rain and the rest tonight!!! woohoo... I actually like cutting grass..Yea Sam that thing will throw some clippings.!!

Remember to clean the baffels and channel in the point to insure the grass has an even flow out.

The ONLY complaint I have is the rear wheels will collect grass on them and when I back up it leaves/peals off a flat patch of grass I have to mow over again...Need to make a brush system to keep them clean....hmmm

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
