I have 2 107s one deck u1114 and one deck u1116. When I needed a new belt I was told that it 80x3/8. It was very tight and only lasted 2 mowings. So I pulled other belt it was I h 481099 looked this up and it says it is 83x1\2. What size belt is correct?

You make NO mention of the size of the mower deck (ie: 38", 42" or 48").

Houston, we have a problem. I looked on four different sites, parts manuals. mower deck parts guides, and they all state the same. A 107 w/ a 48" mower deck uses a IH-489397-R3 Belt, which is 3/8" x 75.5". Perhaps some images of the Mule Drive, Mower Deck, and belt routing, may add some insight to the problem.

Well Lew, you could be right. He did NOT specify which belt. I "assumed" that he was looking for the PTO, because most people do.

Sorry I am not being clear. This is the pto belt I am looking for. I am confused. I am going to try the IH belt on the deck that is eating the belts and see what happens

Check your pulleys for alignment, and look-see if the belt is rubbing on something it shouldn't.

Thanks all for responses. I put the IH belt 481099 which part look up says is 83x1/2 on mower that was eating belts and it cut fine and a lot easier to put on . so I think I will order belt from here and hope it keeps working

It is odd a 48" deck belt can be used as the pto belt, whatever works as the grass is growing!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
