Default Timed deck

I'm reassembling the timed deck on my O. Which way does the double pulley on the deck go? Should the smaller diameter pulley be at the top or bottom? I don't have a deck manual, and the parts explosion was of no help to me.

Thanks
Bill

I would assume that the pulley on the left spindle that is driver by the double pulley, would match size for size. In other words, mount it so that the bottom pulley on the double pulley is the same size as the one to the left.

I don't have an "O" and I've never worked on the timed deck, but that just makes sense to me.

Thanks Guys! I had guessed smaller pulley up when I put it together. I wanted a sanity check because I had to adjust the deck belt engagement pedal part way out of the clevis so it would slide the pulley to the end of travel when disengaging the blades with large pulley down. I am trying to get it to stop the blade drift when the blades are off. Smaller pulley on the bottom would give more slack than the larger one, but the belt seems to catch in the deep V of the pulley and drift anyway. Maybe I have the wrong belt.

John, I checked that out, the left side pulley is a larger diameter than both pulleys on the double pulley. Either way it is a slowing down.

I finished replacing the spindle bearings yesterday, How do they look?

Stupid restoration creep. I stripped it down to replace the spindle bearings, and figured I would paint the underside with appliance epoxy paint. Easy enough right?.....

Then I figured I might as well patch a few holes.

Then I figured I might as well fix the left side skid and make a new one for the right side. I just used flat stock I had laying around.

I painted it using Rustoleum canvas white and duplicolor school bus yellow. After going through the first can of school bus yellow trying to cover gray primer (never doing that again), I found Rustoleum 2X coverage Gloss Golden Sunset, almost an exact match to the SBY.

They look great - I know how restore creep works since I'm having the same issue with 48-inch cast nose. I'm planning to use duplicolor primer on all the parts and then duplicolor gloss on top but I'm still not sure what to use underneath.

FYI, Rustoleum makes a white sand-able primer that works good under light colors.

Thanks! I used the appliance epoxy on the inside of my snowthrower, aside from a few stone chips the paint is holding up well after 2 winters. I figured I would give it a try on the underside of this deck. It's not my main mower, so it won't be a good indicator of longevity. But hopefully it will hold up well.

And white primer is definetly on my list if/when I paint the tractor.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
