Jeff, you could make a floating adjustable lift rod n kill 2 birds...?

http://xtrememotorworks.com/Parts%20...sh%20Blade.htm

95.00 plus freight... but it takes care of both front lift applications.

The more time I spend with this tractor the more I love it.

Just a quick question, perhaps notnproper place; but does anyone know if IH ever made an adjustable lift rod?? Because I think I found one unless its a different maker...however It is white, and on a IH push blade....works like a chuck with two threaded pinch tabs...should've took a pic...

The rock shaft arm pictured, am I correct in assuming it installs with the arm/rod connection below the footrest?

On a side note, what are these Sam Mac rear end braces I saw mentioned in another thread?

Thanks in advance.

Its a dual lift. Blowers have a rockshaft that requires a pushing force, the lower (under foot rest) provides that. While your blade requires a pulling force (above foot rest). Like I said, buy it n you will b good to go atleast on that end.

Rear end braces remedy the issue of the aluminium housing breaking up by the hydrostat. If you dont have them on your 1641, get them. It will save alot of heart ache down the road if you plan to keep the machine.

Thanks for all your suggestions, I'd be lost without this board and everyones input. I ordered the rockshaft and should have it Thursday. That should give me time to get it mounted and then get some solid dimensions on the arm I will need.

It was my intention when I bought this tractor to get something that would meet our needs, I didn't want a disposable piece of junk. The 1641 is capable and beyond. I'll have it for a very long time

I've been looking into filling the rear tires, rear end braces, and 3 point setups. Braces are next on the list, suggestions on a source? I can't risk breaking this old girl..

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
