I think I scored
The other day a guy saw me at the county fair with my 124 and asked me whose it was and I said mine (14 year olds get looks messing with cub cadets in public) He told me that he had a cub he'd give me and I was like ok whatever I'll get some junk and he explained it to me like a 70 so I called him later and he texted me a few pictures of it i about died itt was a 73 with lights. I just picked it up this morning and it runs but needs a carb job. I'm looking for some round fenders for it in case you may have some. It came with a deck that is all original and like brand new with the little wheels in the back. It was a one owner machine said his dad bought it new it had the operators manuel and service manuel with it too the only thing I'm missing is the mule drive which I have a spare of so i guess I scored

Congrats on the new toy. Not sure where in PA you are but I've been seeing some round fenders on Pittsburgh Craigslist.

Yes you indeed scored. The 73 is my favorite. Those little 161s are super smooth and are powerful enough to hang with the bigger HP models. And it has lights! Congrats (soda cheers)

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
