Default Trunnion and controls

Hi all, I know trunnion springs and adjustments have been talked about before but I have a few questions. I've just now dug into mine. My 1812 was never "right" since I got it but I've lived with it, mainly because I've been busy. Got the fender pan off and someone has put some washers in between the springs and pins. I'm going to order new pins and springs. Otherwise looks ok, not elongated or worn. Biggest concern I have is the "damper spring plate" as cub calls it is loose on the shaft coming out of the pump. Not horribly bad, but does have some slop. Should I get a new one? Or try to shim it? Let it go? Thanks in advance.

Everyone of mine have a little slop. Yeah I know one's "a little" may be a lot to another. If it's bothering you, shims would be the best, and cheapest way to snug it up.
I would be more concerned with the trunnion, springs and caps...

Thanks Zippy.
I ordered springs and pins from the dealer-actually they had them there. Had some stuff to get from xtreme motorworks so I ordered the trunnion repair thing he had. I can live with a little slop on that bracket. We'll see what happens

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
