450 snowblower on a 2084?
I have a 2084 that I bought from a local case dealer. I paid 500 with a snowblower and 54" deck. Beautiful tractor. The tractor was service every year and I spoke with the guy who serviced it all those years. He told me the 451 blower was pretty much shot so i put it on CL for 150. and sold it the next day. I have my eye on a model 450 snowblower and was wondering what is involved in modifying it to fit the 2084. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The difference between the two blowers is the gearbox and the gearbox ratio. I went through the same this but in reverse, I needed a 450 and could only find a 451. The blowers (gearbox) changed when Cub Cadet changed from a 6" PTO to the smaller (I think 4.5") PTO during the transition from the Kohler Magnum to the Kohler Command series. You should have kept the 451 and just swapped the gearbox to the 450. The gearbox is the same on the outside but the internal gears are different. The gears can be changed , if you can find them, but they are NLA from MTD. I ended up buying a beat up 450 and swapping the gearbox. I investigated changing the PTO but was unable to find one with the right diameter pulley and shaft size to mount on the tractor (an early 2082). For a $150 I'm surprised it lasted until the next day. For the 2084 you also have to be sure that the blower has the kit installed to adapt it to the Super with the larger front tires, not a big deal , there are vendors around that make an after market kit.

On top of what Group44 said, it's literally easier to change the PTO on the tractor, than to change the blower. Will it work without mods? Yes, it will.... but you will be driving the blower faster than it was made to run. Your choice. Better off with the correct blower.

For what it is worth a 551 blower will fit and work in a 2084. I have done it.

A 70 with deck. 2 102s both with 42 in decks, one with creeper, 1 36 inch IH snow thrower CW36, 1 42 inch IH blade. 149 with mower. 2072 w 3 pt hitch, Johnny bucket, 60 in mower, 451 blower. Jacobson GT 10 with mower. DR Lawn vac tow behind,Home made lawn roller. Brinly cart, 2 off brand carts and 1 home made cart.
