Default Cat 0 Tiller

Anyone know if a person can get the PTO shaft for the category 0 tiller from a place like a Tractor Supply? I know that the male end is a little more difficult than that, perhaps that could be made? I know of a tiller that's missing the PTO shaft for sale and just wondering if it's worth the effort... thanks!

This has been discussed before and all the pieces are available from various sources, if I remember correctly it was jmech that had all that info.

The shafts are different on the 356, 308 & 442. Which one did you find?

Hi Todd. It's a 442... looks like it's in good shape too. I don't need another one but was thinking that maybe someone might trade me a cub rear mower if I could get this and in working order.

Great info Todd! Thank you!

John, I'm betting you would! Especially if you made the whole shaft. Something to think about...

I ended up passing on the tiller. I estimated about $200 on top of the price of the tiller to have a shaft made. I didn't have the time to chase parts and put the total price more than I was willing to pay...

Just curious.... what was the price of the tiller? And where was it. I (or someone else) may be willing to pay the price.....

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
