Default Anybody know much about water softeners?

Because ours is on the fritz and the wife isn't happy showering in hard water. I tell her it's water, how can it be hard?! She doesn't find it funny and you know what they say, happy wife happy life; well, my wife isn't happy so that should tell you how my life is right now

Anywho, on to the issue. My salt tank is full of water I've tried taking the line that goes from the salt tank to the brine tank off and cleaning it out, pulling the suction tube and cleaning it, and cleaning anything else I can get at to no avail. If I manually start the cycle, the timer will run through but no change.

Funny thing is, for my day job I run the Maintenance Department where I work but if you ask anyone I work with what I think of plumbing, without a doubt the first thing that will come out of there mouth is "Ryan f&#*ing hates plumbing"

Any suggestions what I could try or should I just call someone and leave it at that? I'm more than willing to tare into things if I know what I'm going after. Thanks in advance guys

So the brine is not drawing out of the tank? Is the tank over full?

Define "overfull"...I have salt in it and even if I get all the water out of it, it will refill with water up to about a foot from the top.

Call the Culligan man!

Seriously though..

my parents have one. They have it leased for way cheap a month from Culligan so if there is an issue they just call them and they work on it.

Sorry if this doesn't help your problem any.

First make sure you don't have a salt bridge, second, make sure about 1/3 depth of brine well has water.

Be sure all settings are correct with the timer, and force a re-generation.

That's one route I'm debating. I hate monthly payments but on the other hand not having to worry about maintaining another piece of equipment (let alone one I hate working on) would be a huge plus. The other option is just buying a new one and being done with it. Menards has them for between $300-400 rated for a "4 person household". While my wife does love to shower, I don't think she showers enough to make up for 3 people

Anywhere good to check for a salt bridge? And being as how my salt/brine tank is about full (I've emptied it, recharged, etc), I think I'm good there As for the recharge, I've tried that several times to no avail. I think it's time for this ol' girl to go out to pasture :-/

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
