Mountain Heritage..here's a few more pic's and a custom 3 point i am working on..just got it painted and will assemble next week..will post some pics on the site when done..mine has a 50C deck,,also have a QA42 snowblower and a 42" rear blade..that is the reason for the 3 point conversion

Nice! Very NICE....I am jellous! Would like to see what it looks like when your done. You like the way the 50C deck works for doing large area's of grass? I have almost 2 acres to mow. Right now it takes 3hrs to do with a 42" Poulin Pro - If I bought this 982 I would hope I could shave off at least an hour of mowing time?? Perhaps I am dreaming...but I guess we all have to have something to hope for! (besides the tractor!!)

The 50C is too big for my 3/4 acre..too many trees and an uneven lot(but I just sold my 1650, which was my mow machine, so it will see a little mow and leaf mulching)..it might suit your needs,but you might like the 60" deck better..this will be part of my snow removal team..

A 60" deck would be great, but I too have the same issue as you, I have trees and shrubs to go around and for some a 60" deck wouldn't fit between and all that would do is creat more time with the push mower afterwards trimming around them in my mind. So a 50 to 54" deck is pretty much max that I can have on any tractor.

If the tractor is in as nice of shape as you say it is, I'd say it's worth $2000 down in the USA. Since they are much more rare up there, then it probably is worth $2500. I paid $1700 for my fully optioned 982 ut it had a lot of problems. I probably have $3000 into it now that it's all fixed up.
Hawgwilde's 982 is getting fitted with a "Sleeve" style 3pt hitch. The Sleeve wasn't a option on the 982. The only 3pt available for them was a "Catagory 0" 3pt, which is a true 3pt. The factory ones sell for $400 to $500 used or there are several places selling aftermarket cat 0 3pt for around $400. extreme motorworks is probably one of your best bets. As far as the front hydraulics and the rear pto, they really aren't used for much. The front hydraulics only work on the "Power angle" front blade, and the rear pto only runs a tiller, a sickle bar mower, and a "rough cut mower". Any of those attachements are very hard to find and very expensive to buy when you do find them. And as far as the turning brakes, mine has them but i rarely ever use them. I tried using them while I was plowing over the weekend, and they didn't help much if at all. But in the trctors defense, I don't really use the 982 for much. i have a mower for the yard and my old cubs are just my play toys. I'm sure some others will chime in about how much they use their turning brakes.

My advise would be to go ahead and get the 982. If you can get it for less than $2500, then you are doing pretty good. I can assure you that you probably won't regret your purchase.

Well, from the pictures I was sent - the tractor is in good shape. I also found another one that was on E-bay back in August/September that the auction closed because it didn't reach the reserve bid. I am trying to get a response from the seller to see if he still has it or not. It had both dual turning brakes as well as the 3pth. He had both ag tires and the original turf style tires for it. From what I have seen of it - it too is SWEET! I guess I could always look at it this way, if I can get one cheap enough and I don't like it - I am sure I could still sell it and search for another one. Since it seems they are kinda like looking for hen's teeth, or it seems that way to me! I seen one with a 60" Woods deck on it, holy crap it looks REALLY large for the tractor! I can't see myself using that on my lawn, great for the one open area, but not much good around the garden/trees/deck etc. Too many things to mow around and I would say it would be frustrating. Like I mentioned before the 50" deck is about as big as I would want to go. I was looking at a zero turn mower before I started convincing myself a cub, more so an IH 982 was better. I looked at it as the one I wanted for a zero turn that I knew would last many years was pushing $7,000.00, so if I can get a "tractor" that acually has more of a purpose than just mowing the lawn for under $3,000.00 ..... I think I am further ahead? A guy I know bought a zero turn and he said for mowing grass, its great other than that, waste of money. The one he has he can't even put a trailer on it because there is no hitch on it and you can't put one on it, there is basically no frame to attach it to. He kinda kicks himself for buying it now - but the wife wanted it, thought it would be good. Needless to say he doesn't like the idea and said he should have kept his old mower, even if it was worn out, at least he could do his yard work with it. Now he is stuck with a wheel barrow! Poor bugger.

I have a 982 and it is a great tractor. Mine has the all the options except for the front outlets which wouldn't do me much good in Georgia for a snow plow. I don't use the turning brakes and the only thing that I use the rear PTO is for a tiller. I think that these tractors will hold in value and even if you paid $2000 to 2500 you should be able to get most of it back if you sell it.
