I posted somewhere in this thread that carbs have always been an enigma to me. They seem to always be in the equation one way or another... |

Well, she's still in storage fellas. We're living in an apartment for now. I'm hoping to be back in a house (hopefully with a pole barn!) by next Summer.
It's nice out and I would really love to be working on my Cub. This will not be one of those projects that went half way and got dropped, I hate to leave anything unfinished. It's just the living arrangements... I've even considered seeing if I can find same space to bring my tractor up here (Northern MI, where we relocated) and store it where I can work on it. That would probably be hard to do, though. I'd need to set up my whole workshop. |

I spent the last few days reading this entire thread. I was googling "adjust brakes on cub" to figure out the rear disc brakes on my 149 and this came up because you had to "adjust" your pto "brake"
WOW. Just WOW. Great attention to detail. Great job writing it all up. And, honestly, it was nice to see that someone as meticulous as you still had some issues. I hate it for you, you worked so hard, you deserved to have the thing fire right up. But sometimes I feel like it's only me that can't get a darn carb tuned in right or something similar. Just curious if you finally got a place to work on this tractor? Any update? Thanks again for the great writeup and details. If I ever decide to go this deep into my Cubs, this thread will certainly be a starting point.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
