driveshaft couplers
I have a 149 as well and broke my driveshaft. If your couplers are loose or wallowed out at all It would make sense to replace those while you are replacing your disc and have it apart. Contact Jeff Derstine (Parts by Jeff)and have him make the parts if needed, he was great to deal with and not too expensive. Had I not elected to check the pump side too per Jeff's advice I would most certainly have broke the new shaft in short order. These guys on this site know what they are doing and are an invaluable resource. I am very grateful to have found this site!

If you purchase a driveshaft when you get a drivehub, I can make them to a tighter tolerance since I can match them. I will make the drivehub to regular cub cadet specs ( more clearance ) since I can not control how centered someone else's driveshaft pin is. Jeff |

For example, if you replace the drivehub and driveshaft but the rear coupler is worn, it will wear out the new parts very quickly. ( a worn center hole will allow excessive movement )
I'm more than happy to sell you parts but only want to sell you what you actually need. |

Here's a worn creeper input shaft.
It's on it's way to Jeff for repairs as I type. Should show up today, Jeff. The hole in the driveshaft was just as bad, on both ends whereas the coupler was in fine shape. This on a 128 I am prepping for resale later this spring. |

I looked at it today and found a few problems. First, the flex disc is hitting the oil filter. I don't know if it is the wrong oil filter or something else.

Second, the end of the driveshaft that goes to the transmission looks worn out. And the hole for the pin on the engine side looks worn.
What else should I check?

Your driveshaft is junk.
The filter was likely hit because of the junk shaft, but the hex nut on the end of the filter is indicative of it not being a Wix, Napa or CCC filter. May not be the right one. You will need a new ball bushing in the rear coupler. |
