Default Hydro rebuild kit for 1720

Is there a hydro rebuild kit for a Cub Cadet 1720? If so, what is the part number? Is this a fairly easy job to tackle?
Thank you

What is the problem? they are not the sundstrand unit, so other than a seal or 2, most just parts them out when the hydro goes bad.

Nothing wrong yet George, I just would like to do some preventative maintenance if possible. Is there a hydro filter on this particular model? Also trying to see if there is a full line marked on reservoir where u put hydro fluid. I noticed there is a rubber gasket type thingy inside u can pull out. Gonna have to download a service and operator manual.

I'm assuming you have a Hydro-Gear transmission. You gotta know the model number, it is on a white tag on the transmission.
You can go here
http://www.hydrogearpartstore.com/?g...odqtQF2A#Error
or here
http://www.arkansas-ope.com/HYDRO-GE...AIR_PARTS.html
to look up parts and kits.
Go here for Service and repair manual
http://www.hydro-gear.com/service-and-repair-manuals/

Is it an easy job to tackle, I don't thinks its a big deal, but then I did a lobotomy on myself with with a mirror and X-Acto knives.

All of the parts are expensive and tearing one apart just for routine maintenance is not something I would personally do.

Ok thanks Iron man. I thought i saw somewhere about a rebuild seal kit for like $20. Unless it starts leaking or something probably just leave it alone. Just change hydro fluid. Love the Kohler 17hp magnum in that sucker!

As I said, I don't know what model transaxle you have. Most don't have drain plugs, if yours doesn't you must remove it from the tractor and drain it upside down through a vent. Fluid inside is 20W50 motor oil not hydro fluid. There is a filter inside but to change it you must open the case. Then of course you WILL need a seal kit too. Filter, about $35.00, seal kit about $20.00, oil $7.00 a quart (need 2), tube of sealant to seal the case $7.00. Shall I go on....?

That would be best. Or if you go diggin' you may begin to see leaks and trouble where you didn't before.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
