Well I have it, at a Culver's on the way home now, I think I screwed up with this one, it is COOKED. The pictures showed orange which looked like left over paint, but it is really flash rust. Not a bit of paint left.
On the good side, if you wanted to restore one from the ground up, this one looks like it would clean up easy with a light scuff from a wire wheel. You have heard of baked on paint this machine has it baked off. The snowblower turns very free, which is good but as I thought the paint was just baked/ faded, from the pictures that I had gotten, it is bare. Definitely fixable but wasn't wanting to "right now". |

well the engine is full of oil to the full line, and is still clean. don't look like any water got in there either. Head doesn't look hurt but the head tin is warped (buckled) upwards a bit.... It has gotten cold now, so this charred hulk will stay on my trailer til I make room in the garage to bring it in and strip the machine out..... got the snow blower (which was why I went after this pile in the beginning) almost stripped apart and ready for stripping and paint. I have 1 stupid pulley holding me up from having it completely apart.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
