I have several with tri ribs and several with the 3 turn CCC box... they all drive fine.. I know the power steering is overkill and a lot of sugar for a nickel as dad says... but I just wanted to do it... especially after running this 1782 for three seasons... That fingertip steering sure will spoil you! Every since the day in 1980 when I walked in the IH dealer with Dad and laid eyes on a showroom full of red Cub Cadets I've always wanted a really nice red one!! I have one "red" one already.. an all original 782... I just hate to monkey with modifications on it.. it's too original.... Both of these 782's that I just bought have already been hacked on a bit... so I don't feel so bad! My goal is to have a V twin Super but on a short garden tractor frame with power steering nice shiny red paint and make it look like IH did it from the factory.. Should be do able but may take some time... ( that stuff seems to be in short supply lately!) That guy Lew... he can be helpful from time to time! Even though he is one of those Yankees!

Still gathering P/S parts.. one by one
Scored myself an early 1862 P/S axle for the 782.. this one has the early short spindles.. I really didn't want to raise the front two inches.. I like the factory 782 stance..
Eventually I will get enough parts and maybe some time and start on this beast!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
