Default 2182 with 60c belt ?

I'm working on my 2182 with a 60C deck today. I'm cleaning it up, checking everything and sharpening the blades. It seems to me that the belts I have on it may be the wrong size. They both seem to be close to new. Both the tensioner on the deck and the mule drive look like they are too tight and the tentioners are at the end of there travel. The belts I have are a 754-3023 on the mule drive and a 754-3052 on the deck. I looked on Parts tree and cannot find the belt numbers. Do I have the correct belts? I suspect I do not because the spring on the deck is totally compressed and on the mule drive the adjusting pulley is pulled all the way to the front and almost touching the front of the mule drive. Thanks for any help and information.

You didn't look in the proper place. Go back to parts tree, make sure you have your serial number because they have 3 different series of 2182's. Scroll down to attachments, click on 60" deck then deck assembly for the deck belt and hitch for the mule drive belt.

I use a B112K from TSC on my deck, don't remember what the mule drive belt is but if yours is to long they could probably match it up and give you one a little shorter.

Thanks. I was looking at the wrong spot. I found them with your advice. The belt part numbers I have are correct. On the deck is it normal for the tensioning spring to be completely compressed? I would think it wouldn't be completely compressed with a proper belt on it?? Is it just that tight to help compensate for a stretched belt?

This is a link that takes you to pretty much what I've done on my last 2 Haban decks.

These are a couple pics showing the belt tensioners.

After cleaning some of the rust and old paint off the spring on mine it looks just like yours does in your pic. I will be using your idea on the reinforcing of the rear mount as shown in your second pic. Mine is broken exactly as yours was.

I have another one in the shop that is broken in the same area. Looks like pretty much a standard problem. This makes # 4 that I've seen with a broken rear mount. I've had 5 of them so we are running at an 80 percent failure rate. Luckily this one isn't to bad, short of it being rotted out because of grass trapped under the belt guards. Just my 2 cents but I like the older Haban's that had the diamond plate belt guards because you could clean then after mowing with a leaf blower, the later deck trapped grass. Last one I redid I didn't put the guards back on. My feet my problem, Duh turn the mower off first.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
