Any 169 owners? What are your thoughts about them. Looking at one tomorrow, at least supposed to.

I really like mine. Mow about an acre and plow a driveway a couple hundred feet long. Runs good and easy to work on. Post some pictures if you get it.

I have 2, minus an engine. Make sure that it has the correct engine in it. Other than that, all of the other parts are the same as the 149's and 129's, so those are somewhat easy to come by. Hope you score it!!

I own a 149. Its a great tractor. A 169 would be very similar in function, but harder to find parts for (but more rare, so possibly more 'valuable' in this way)
If you were only wondering about functionality, I would skip the 169 and go for a 149 just to make it cheaper to repair/work on. |

We (wife and I), just got back with it, from just West of Russelville, Ky. Deck is use-able, but tired, with some small rust holes (fix-able). Lift parts, brake rods, amp meter, PTO rod and who knows what else have been robbed. Engine is an unknown. Body is pretty straight and mostly rust free. Tires are good. So, it's a "roller" at this time, but build-able. And, for $100.00 and 6 hour trip, it's not bad. Pics maybe next week.
One thing I've found different from the 149, that I had, is the way the fender pan and battery tray, are fabricated and mounted. It,s all one piece on this one. As for as "correct", I'm not too concerned about that. I just want a strong and functional tractor, that works and looks good while it's at it.

Sounds good Steve, I would have done it too. For 100 bucks and a road trip you can't lose. Half the fun is going to get them

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
