Dropped the diff cover a few minutes ago, and the oil looks good, no water, milk, etc. Will have a closer look, for gear and bearing, condition. No serious metal showing in case sump. Looking good.
Going to do a steering gear tear down and rejuvenate. Front axle pin bosses look good. Lots of cleanup ahead for paint prep. Not full resto, just face lift.

Small steps
You may have forgotten this project, but it's not dead, just slow.
Cast iron pan installed. New points and condenser. Head surface lapped to true flat, and new gasket. Block "set" and bolted down, new oil. Begin sanding frame and engine tins for "freshening" the paint. Yes that is belt sanding belts. They work great for rough hand sanding, and the wire brush gets the tight places. School bus yellow rattle cans ordered. (cheap) This is to be a working tractor, not a trailer queen. (I do like trailer queens) The last is my work shed. Breezy and cold in Winter, hot in Summer. But, mostly keeps the rain off. Lurking in the corner, is the "fence row queen ( "O"), Waiting for it's turn, ...or a new home. Until I get some more progress, ... Pics:

Slow and steady wins the race
Hope it all comes together, especially being a "rare" tractor such as the 169

That's a 1976 Case 444, with the Kohler 14, a real beast. My current plow tractor, while I build the cub. After the Cub, I may go through the Case, or sell it. But, one at a time.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
