Default Rear Tires for 1512

Just installed the starter upgrade on my 1512 yesterday. One of the best upgrades I have done so far! Can't wait until winter comes.

While doing the starter I noticed my rear tires cracking. I actually I can see the inner tube. Years ago I ran lug tires but was let down by winter snow plowing performance with tire chains. Been running turf tires and v bar chains for past couple years with good success. Actually leave chains on all summer for hauling firewood. Running turf and v bar chains I actually almost stalled the 1512 pulling a log/large part of a tree. Great traction.

So i need to order tires asap and have two options. Stay with turf tires or try a set of Carlisle all trail tires.

I know what the turf will do but I am wondering if the all trails would another option if I ever remove the chains.

Anyone running Carlisle All Trail on your cub with tire chains?

Anyone snow plowing with all trail?

Thanks for you help.

Still not sure if best option but came across a short term, low cost fix. During lunch was searching online. Found a strange sale at walmart for 4 ply hi run turf tires.

Seems if I ship them to the local store I get an additional discount. So I ordered two tires to be sent to local Walmart. Total cost with tax just a little over $75.

Yep the "discount" line is now gone.

I should have ordered 4 of them for that price.

Not sure what the hell is going on but the "discount" line just came back on these tires (6/28/17 @ 2:29) I actually ordered another set which will go onto my 1711. Tires came out at $35.23 each and free shipping to store!

Honestly I am sorry for even posting the walmart link. Tire price has shot up and instead of the $20+ store pickup savings it is now a savings of $1.48.

Didn't realize prices change so much in a few hours.

They look like about a $30 tire to me. Get what you pay for I guess.

First set arrived. Mounted them up today. Not a bad looking tire. Swap over took some time. Had to deal with tire chains, heavy wheel weight and liquid ballast.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
