My latest discovery.. a lovely old 149
I regularly check my local CL as there is always something interesting. a new ad!
"Cub Cadet: runs well, with rototiller and 48" deck... $200" I was the first to respond... 39 min after the initial posting! lol I sent an email.. "Have trailer and cash. Tell me When and Where!" and went to bed with no expectation of success. Imagine my surprise when Steve emailed me back! We had to jump it with the car as the battery was shot. She fired up and purred like a 650# kitten. No smoke whatsoever. The poor trailer was a mite taxed but we survived the trip home. The deck is completely shot. All the hardware is good as the guy fought the good fight and replaced everything he could as it went to pieces... unfortunately the deck itself is unusable. The tiller is immaculate... used but well taken care of. He replaced all kinds of little parts including a rebuild of the PTO. He gave me the old one. I got a set of chains and all the paperwork as well. Score!!! So I do have a few questions... lol Just one for tonight tho... the deck is a project for another time... the tiller is my focus. How do I find the belt specs? He gave me belts but they are very tired and I would much rather start out knowing what I have. I have scoured Partstree and a couple other sites... no mention of actual specs. the tiller model # 1 U-1111 the tractor's s/n 2050047U476543 I look forward to your kind feedback Rick

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
