Stuck filters are a PITA. Last one I had that was stuck I pounded a large screwdriver all the way threw it around the middle and gave it a slow steady twist and it broke free. Your results may vary. Good luck

Why yes sir, it's just stuck on there really good. Any telling on the age of that filter? Not sure what the original filters looked like.

Are all the bolts holding the cover on suppose to be the same length? I have 2 different sizes.

Also I can not get the oil filter off, I assume it's just the normal filter that screws on but I can not tell. I got the replacement 1410 filter from
NAPA and it looks like I should screw off.

if anyone knows the correct length of bolts that should be in the rear end without me looking through pages of manuals would be helpful.
This is not rocket science math. The holes it the casting (7 of them) are all about 1" deep. You NEVER want to put a bolt in them that would bottom out because you would break thru the casting and you are screwed. So if you were only putting back on your cover plate alone, you would use seven 3/4" long bolts. But let's say you want to have a draw hitch plate. Well you want to use a little longer bolt in order to catch enough threads so probably a 1" bolt in the three holes for that would be fine. But now you also want to add the tiller gearbox plate which is about 1/4" thick so you would add another 1/4" to the length of those three bolts holding on the tiller and hitch. Or in other words, 3/4" bolts in the top five holes and 1 1/4" bolts in the bottom three holes.

Now as to the filter, if you can't find a tool to get it loose, take a sharp chisel and a light hammer and start tapping the chisel blade into the heavy rim of the filter where the red line is. Once it has a good bite, angle your chisel so that you're tapping the filter in a counter clockwise direction. Don't beat the snot out of it, you are only trying to loosen it. If your chisel loses its bite start a new one

Just going off what I have, someone botched it up and I'm fixing it little by little. I take stuff off, make sure I have what I need, find what I'm missing. Kinda hard to tear everything apart at once while I'm trying to use it which slows the process. Anyone have a reference for spray paint that comes close to matching the white and yellow? I'm just going to do a few pieces like this cover and gear box. TSC has paint that specifically says what it's meant to replicate but I couldn't find a CC one.

Well I got after the cub again today, I found on older style oil filter wrench. This one was able to be opened up, so I slapped it around the filter, bolted it back together, gave it a few cranks and it popped free! Threw on the 1410 filter from NAPA and now I'm just waiting on that gasket.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
