Just remove the four bolts into the oil pan and move the engine forward. The driveshaft has a 3/8" diameter pin on the flange end that locates in the pump coupler ( rear ) that is about 1/2" long. |

Thanks, We got the engine out now and have the tractor flipped up so I can get to it. I just hit the bottom with degreaser the other day, then I just scrubbed with soap and water today. 35 degrees outside. I just retreated indoors. I think I am going to buy the big Husquavarna garden tractor for this summer and I am going to go through the cub. Many parts like the pulley arms are ovaled out. My father in law has a guy that will weld them and re-drill the holes. I'm not going to do a full restoration, but I'm going to freshen it up. I have already fixed some things, but I want the front end rebuilt with new tie rods and bushings and things like that. My fiance is really supportive and that is great. I want to eventually restore a Cub Original for parades. Thanks for all of the advise and input. Once I get my surgery I'll be able to go at it a bit more.

Sorry, I forgot to ask. The bar across the front that the pulleys are attached to, and is welded to the frame, how do you get a new one? I'm sure I can grind it and the ends and remove, but I would like to replace. Thank you.

If that's what you need, ebay, c-list, or put up a wanted ad in the "Wanted" section on this site. Someone has one to sell. |

It's been cold, and now raining, so things are going slow. I got it cleaned up, but my fiance's dad is going to let me use his steam cleaner, which will really help. I used soap and a scrub brush and got it pretty clean. |

OK, the shaft is good, the valves all move on the pump, filter is the correct one, does this now point to a bad pump? If so, I found a Cub salvage yard 20 min from me.

I am still healing from surgery. My two hour surgery turned into 5 hours, and I am now titanium from mid femur to the top of my shin bone. I bought another mower, my sons bought me a welder, so game on. I am doing a rebuild. I am going to start by playing drill and fill with the welder on all of the worn out and elongated holes and slots and get things tightened up.

Is that a Magnum in a 127??? Or is it just a black replacement?

I see a coil so it must be a replacement engine.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
