Homemade solid hitch for CC 106
Attempting to make a strong hitch for moving boat around yard, ready to roll weight is 3500 lbs.
Welding done by a true welder, not me. |

I think you should build a tandem cub like sawdustdad did but instead of a dump bed you should put a fifth wheel on it.

You're planning on moving a 3500# boat using the back of a 700# garden tractor.
Ok...... That doesn't sound like a bad idea. I use my truck to move my trailers around. Or my Lo-Boy. But it has 3ph and is just a tad larger than a GT. Even it has it's limit..... |

I know, but It's IH, I trust it, my yard is flat. Maneuverability is what I'm looking for, It's a Cub, stopping shouldn't be a problem.
Low gear, just off idle. Other than that, It's a toy and sounds old school, I like that sound. I have much practice pulling things, I will update. Thanks. Kevin |

I just don't understand why anyone want to use them to move a trailer. I've never had an issue using a truck. I can put a trailer anywhere with a truck. If the area isn't large enough for a truck to get the trailer into, then the trailer doesn't need to go there. But that's my opinion I suppose.
Carry on. But if you sheer the bolts off the rear, or tear something up, don't say you had no idea.... |

I move my tri hull 21' fiberglass deckboat around when ever I need to with my 127. Have not weighed it but it is close to this 3500lbs. Granted I am on level ground and it is 12hp hydro. A 106 might just burn the clutch before something breaks though. |

When hitch is complete, I'll show serious attention to detail, It's severely overbuilt!
Anything I can make strong can be made even stronger, you guys will approve, appreciate all comments. Thanks. Kevin |

The 3/8" bolts that hold the hitch to the rear....
Me either. |

I don't think he is utilizing the original CC trailer hitch. Nor the entire rear end cover plate like this custom hitch:
Maybe like that but higher. Since he is shooting for a hitch point 18" high. On mine I used one of these brackets and then welded a 2"sq receiver tube on under the hole in the center. Puts the receiver up close to 18" or truck level. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
