Got the pics, edit your post to remove your email

I'm wondering if I maximize the splined coupler engagement on the shaft if it would be salvageable?

Darryl, I would also change the charge pump seal if you are in it that far. Here is what I use.
DSCN0867.jpg

I would also check the front ball bushing for wear too.

And while you have the shaft taken loose on one end I would probably also change dynamo/water pump belt. Here are the Gates numbers for the engine belts.

Fan = 6727
Water pump = 7320

If I can think of any other ways to lighten your wallet I will let you know.

Gee Todd, keep it up and I'll have to do a go fund me page! Seriously, I might rip everything apart if the coupler is loose on the shaft. I'll probably do the whole rear end with axle seals and all. Jeff is going to send me some samples to see if things will fit well. Thanks Jeff!

My hydraulic shop (near me) claims they can still get parts for the pump including the shaft. I'm not sure if I believe them or not... but they say these pumps are used in a lot of different applications. We'll see. The fan belt is new but I'm not sure about the alternator... hmmm maybe I should look into an alternator upgrade...

Jeffs parts are top notch. My pump input on my 1772 had some spline wear aswell when I converted driveshaft. Jeffs coupler engages further onto shaft and is tight and true. How bad did that thing vibrate prior to it failing..wow never seen one that bad. good luck!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
