Looking at a Z- force sx48
Hello all.
I've had my 1882 for a while now and really thinking about getting a newer , faster tighter turning machine. Was looking at the green tractors and then went to the cub dealer. Saw the new Zforce sx48 and 54. Rode one and boy it rode nice. Really thinking about it and the bagger for it to deal with all the leafs I have on the property. I have a good amount of landscaping , pool , pong etc all to mow around also. So the added speed and 0 turn ability will really speed things up. thinking of adding a plow for winter also. Anyone here have experience with them? Guy at work has one for over a year and loves it to death. But he just mows.. no collection system , no plow. Thanks |

If you want a good ZTR mower, get an Exmark or a Scag.

I actually wasn't looking for a zero turn at all. I went to 3 dealerships and the last was the cub. I was talking to him about the XT2 series and voiced a concern for having the fuel tank up front and not in the back on the tires on the newer ones. He then showed me the Z force. Said that it would be able to to snow , leaf collection like a tractor , drive basically like a tractor in terms of the steering wheel so I wouldn't need to worry about the "knack" of a traditional stick machine. So It seems like the best of both worlds.

What he said. I'd add Kubota to the list. All of the better versions are pricy but they are well built.

Like I said though I wasn't looking for a zero turn. I dont actually like them for what I need one for. I was lured by the way the steering wheel works with the system and what I can still do with it.
Otherwise I guess I might go to the green side. Trying to stay Cub so I was looking for others who have one and seeing if they do more than just mow grass like I am planing to. |

IMHO, stay away from anything Cub Cadet made after 1996. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
