Lift rod unscrews to get more lift. None of them lift very high. I have mine all the way out and maybe get 2". Best option: remake lift rod longer.
PS: Your belt isn't on.... |

I have a 451 which is very similar to yours. One of the differences I see is that the Vertical lift link on mine has three holes in it vs. one on yours. (284-5412 in your photo)
Item #22 shown here http://www.partstree.com/parts/cub-c...ivot-assembly/ I have mine in the top hole and get plenty of lift with it. You may need to drill a couple holes in yours above the one you are currently using. This may have been an improvement made in the 451?? Good luck, Ike |

Otherwise.... I dunno. Maybe they have a different lift rod? Quote:
Drilling holes is an option, but make sure you don't go too far. Then it won't lower enough. I noticed on the second look at the pics that the lift link in question is (I think) on the wrong side on the lower tube. I believe it goes on the inside.... but I'm at work and can't look at one to be sure. Simplest solution is making the lift rod longer. I doubt it's unscrewed far enough. At least try that first. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
