42 inch snow plow help
Hey guys I'm hoping you can help me out. Over the weekend I just picked up a narrow frame 42 inch plow for my 147. The plow needs some work, I've got to put a new cutting edge on and re-skin the blade. I also have to straighten out the A frame as the PO had hit a tree stump and buckled it. My question is at the back of the A frame where it hooks to the sub frame there is a rod that goes across. Should this be welded in place? It seems to me it should not as at first glance I can't see how you would hook it up if you can't move the bar. Maybe I'm missing something obvious here?
Thanks guys, Curt |

It's welded in place. If you examine it closely, you will see the busted welds.
The undercarriage is tension held in place. You have to pry the ears apart to slip/snap back over the rod. |

Ahhh ok. That's what it looked like but I thought there must be a better way than caveman style. Thank you for your help! Now I've got to get the sub frame converted from bolt on to QA.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
