main PNs that I could use..... IH-59690-C2 Idler ratchet
IH-132494-c3 Idler adjuster bolt IH 59691-c1 mule idler spring and IH 223298 Adapter pkg (to go from a 44 to a 50" deck) shows NLA in Jon's posted link from above I'd like 2 of each if someone had them laying around, new or good used |

The 44 and 50 decks mount the same. The 223298 adapter is the whole assembly in the picture. That's why it is NLA.....
Lew offered you two complete mules. Those are the 223298 "adapters". |

oh I looked at the diagram wrong then.... I thought that the adapters were the short links further back on the mounting frame itself with the adjustment for side to side deck height so that it hung straight and level I'm not looking at the mule drive/deck hanger brackets in here, at the computer
but somewhere I saw a breakdown showing those pieces being different between a 44 and a 50 deck.... the 44 were straight where it showed the 50 being an angled piece this wasn't on the mule itself...... probably a brain fart.... but if nothing else I definitely need the 1st 2 items listed.... or just make them I guess. |

If you are talking about the lift links that go from the deck QA carriage to the deck lift arms on the tractor.... no. Those parts are the same no matter what deck you have.

Ok thanks that helps. I'll be the first to admit that I don't know all there is to know when it comes to all the little details on these machines, like what mixes and matches, and what don't, I have maintained a few of these tractors over the years, it's easier when you can work with one package all the time
but when you get to mixing and matching and finding missing pieces to a puzzle and what works/don't work I am still in an experimental phase...... Sometimes it's easier to cop out and ask..... |

I was always under the impression that the deck hanger carriage was considered to be part of the mule drive on these machines, between the exploded view that Jon posted and the thread that is currently right next to mine, i see that it is considered to be separate.
Ok now.... Let's go back to the day when these tractors were brand new.... If I were to go into a IH dealer and buy say, a 1x9 or a QL tractor brand new, I know that I would be buying just the tractor that any attachments would be extra. Would the mule drive and deck hanger come with the tractor or the deck? I have a few extra mule drives here in various stages of completeness. I think that I have enough between them to assemble 2, complete functional drives and mix/match the carriages for the decks that I have. But I would like to pick up some of these consumables along the way just to have since I have 3 QL's to maintain for my farmer buddy where I store my junk at, plus a 129 of my own. |

I'm not sure I got a question out of that.... but if I read your query right, the mule drive and deck hanger would have been purchased with the deck as an assembly. Likely, one money for all of it. The same mule will work with different sub-frames. It will also work on different tractors.

yeah you basically answered what I was wanting to know.... mule comes with deck not with the tractor...

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
