I recently picked up a set for a tiller project, they look very cool. I think I would prefer turfs with chains for my blower but some guys have good luck just loading the ags.

As Tim said, they are great.
And seems Todd (Oak) has been holding out his tire contact.

I have supers with both set ups, ags as well as turfs with chains. I have found that when plowing snow as well as pulling a dirt plow the turfs with chains. have out performed the ags every time. Both set ups also have filled tires and wheel weights. I think the ags look cool but I have had better experience with the turfs and chains. Especially when plowing dirt.

I have tested the same set up you just described with the opposite results. I wonder how they could be so opposite? I'd be interested to know what AG tires you were using, how much pressure was in the tires, type of dirt..... because I have ran equipment for a long time, and what your saying just doesn't really make any sense unless either you had a junk set of tires, or did something wrong such as run incorrect pressures or not use proper weighting. Plus the fact that most everyone says the opposite. Sure, turfs and chains will pull. But not like an AG properly inflated with the proper weighting.

Ags self cleaned in dirt, where turfs and chains got dirt packed up on them and became useless. (Obviously in damp soil.) In dry soil turfs and chains would pull, but I got tired of the noise of chains and the rough ride.

On snow and ice, I had better luck gaining traction with loaded lugs with chains than I ever did while I had turfs on. I think it was because the chain would hit the ice on just the lug. With less surface area, more weight was in a small spot on the tire and it would really bite. With turfs on, (chains and weights) I still got a lot of slip. I used to recommend turfs and chains in the winter, AGs for everything else, but since have had such good luck with AGS and chains that I don't even want a set of turf tires anymore.

Oh, one more thing.... load them with ballast of your choice. The added weight doesn't hurt in grass, and makes a huge difference with used in conjunction with weights when needed.

Here we go again. The ags are brand new, they are inflated and weighted properly. I probably don't have as many years experience as you I have only been doing this stuff for 43 years. This has been discussed multiple times on the forum and I am not the only one with these results. My guess is that the dirt and snow in PA is different than the snow and dirt in Illinos.

The True Powers are good tires. I really like the ones on 121! They should serve you well.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
