Sleeve hitch dimensions needed (older threads have dead pictures)
Hello all how are you? I'm looking for the overall width and length of a real brinly hitch for our cubs. i want to make an exact copy of the real deal. all the older threads have dead pictures now thanks to photo bucket and i cant find what i need because of it. ill be making this for a wide frame 1450 and 1200.
i would like to make a complete sleeve hitch, narrow lower bracket, wide lower bracket, and the lift pin. i've found all kinds of different dimensions and dont know which ones are correct. an example is the main material is listed as 3/8 x 2, 3/8 x 2-1/4 and even 3/8 x 2-1/2, which is correct? and of course dimensions are all over the place also. any help would be greatly appreciated!!! if i can get all the dimensions needed i will draw up all the plans in CAD and put them in the "Plans, Drawings, and Prints" forum when im done so that we dont loose all this again. |

Be advised there are at least 2 types of early Brinly sleeve hitches and maybe even a 3rd.
One has a gentle curve and one has 2 "kinks" in the center of the curve. In both cases, the main frame is made/bent from one piece using no welded joints other than where the pipe tube and center link are added. The bolts and nuts are 5/8" and use bolts that are 2" long with a jam nut. I have also seen differences of at least 1/4" in the height of the yoke on different Brinly implements, in which case, one may have to forgo the use of the draft plate. There are no gussets or cross braces like the homemade piece pictured above, however the measurements should be correct. The inner lower hitch link is/was an IH/CCC piece. Here's one version. on with and one w/o the draft plate |

Sorry R Bedell thats one of the pictures i was talking about that has funny dimensions that dont seem to match some of the others ive seen.
finsruskw youre exactly right! those are the ones i am talking about. ill attach some pictures of what ive found that i want all the dimensions for. for starters i would love to have the overall width and length of of the real store bought sleeve hitches of the second and third style shown. i dont rearlly want the dims for the "original style" but if anybody has those also and wants me to draw them up i will. first picture is an "original", second is the rounded style, third is the brinly i believe, fourth is of the narrow and wide bottom brackets, and fifth is the only picture of a homemade pin i could find that had dimensions on it. |

welp, its been a week and almost 200 people have read this so far... does nobody care to spend 10 minutes to go measure there hitch to help a fellow cubber out?
i did acquire a narrow bottom bracket finally. but it measures 9.25" wide out to out and 8.75" on the inside which means the home made hitch adapter that R Bedell posted a picture of in the second post will not work with a factory bottom bracket. his picture looks like it would be 8.75" inside to inside and 9.5" out to out. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
