105
Hi Jason,
Yeah, I'm the "nice gentleman" who bought your 105! I'm gonna have to take a couple pics and post so you guys can see my progress. I got the exhust elbow from pattan acres and installed the muffler you gave me. I painted the hood and all the wheels with the same paint you used on your georgeous 127. Painted the mower deck and got all new decals which I installed on the hood, mower deck so far. I also changed out the trans oil and put hytrans in, which I got from Case IH in Freehold on rt 537. I also changed the gasket. Finally, I repaired the idler pulley on the mower deck and replaced all the blades with brand new ones. Lets just say my lawn looked like a golf course this summer A guy down the street from me used to collect cubs and helped me withe the exhuast elbow. We crushed the old muffler and used a saw and then a chisel with hammer and some heat to get the last bit out of the threads. Good news; it cleaned up nicely and the muffler you gave me really quieted her up. The idler pulley also required some heat with a torch to bend the spring back into a better position. Now all the blades really hum (not just the middle one). Come spring, I plan on painting the yellow part of the tractor. All in all, I'm real happy with the machine and am reminded of riding my dads 127 (when I was a kid.) every time I use it. Its very nostalgic! By the way, when you gonna sell me your 127?! |

If the paint on that 73 has never been touched, or not very much, I wouldn't change that now. Remember:it's only original once

Great looking 73.... and I agree...some wax, rubbing compound and some degreaser and you've got a very very nice "survivor". While it can always be repainted, there's a beauty in my mind at least, in a nice looking ANYTHING that has survived its years intact. Congrats! I think you scored!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
