I think that's the best 1450 restore I've ever seen. It looks awesome.

I wish that I had the time and money to do that to mine. Oh yeah, also a place to park it inside.

Great restoration Mike, will help alot with my 1450 restore coming this winter. Just pulled the hydro out of my 149 project this morning, same gasket leaking, and it sat for 6 years.

Again, congrats on a fine job!!!

Thanks Everyone !!!!!!

It is a great feel to get to the finish line of your project and look at the results.

Even better, turning the key and listen to it come to life!

There will never be anything better then a old Cub Cadet

Thanks so much! This is exactly what I'd like to do! I actually just bought 2 Cubs! A 1650 for a project like this and a 1450 to actually use It'll get the work over after I finish the 1650.

So, I've been agonizing over the painting issue. I'd assumed I'd have tohave it professionally stripped, blaster and painted to look decent - your thread gives me great hope!

If you ever get a chance and don't made the extra time, would you mind providing a little write-up for how to sand (what grits, etc) to strip and in between coats? I'd just like to know a general idea of how to do it.

Thanks!

-Calvin

I already said it in a different thread but your 1450 is awesome! Did you brace up the motor brackets and put new Iso mounts in it? I have to do that fix to my 1650, they say it makes a world of difference. I too would like to know your sanding steps and the grits you used. Thanks for sharing your resto with us.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
