1811 hydro takes off full speed
I've been getting the 1811 ready for the grass. I patched a few holes in the 44c deck and sandblasted and applied por15 to the spindle mount plate. Replaced spindles and all the hardware, sprayed it with IH white on top and EZ slide paint underneath. I greased all moving parts and mounted the deck. The pto would only engage half of the time so I dissassembled, cleaned and set the gap. Seems to cut nice and smooth now, but finally I get to the problem.
When I set the hydro to mid speed the lever slides itself gradually to full speed. Kind of scary since I'm not used to a hydro drive yet. I put shim washers on two of the linkage shafts in the trunion mechanism to tighten up some of the slop but it still races off. Its also a little jerky when i move the lever. The trunion springs both seem to move freely and l don't see any wear, notches etc. Anyone ever see that happen before? No pics right now since I'm out of town. I'll clarify what I did and take pics when I return.

First check the bolts that bolt the differential to the frame. Check for lose or broken bolts. You probably need to tighten the friction washer nut on the hydro lever so it doesn't move so easy.

On the side of the dash tower there is a nut you can tighten, tighten it just enough to stop the lever from moving on it's own.
