Hey Ryan...in my ad did I mention that my engine is bone dry....lol. Sorry I had to pour some salt in there....
No.... there's no better way to get to know your equipment than having to dive right in.....and normally u get to fix a few other things along the way. Those Onan engine were pretty popular so I'm sure some guys can help u out with questions.

Touché... however the lack of use worried me as well, seals and rubber like to dry up then spring leaks out of no where. Not saying that would happen but it’s possible.
I’m not too worried about the oil leak, I’ll find it and fix it... just need the time to see how far I’ll have to tear it down.

Hey Ryan, I am the one who purchased this tractor from you last April - I just got done freshening up the engine with new cam bearings, seals, gaskets, and rebuilt starter (among a few other things). It also has a 3-point hitch now. I've had it at a few shows and it's been a great conversation piece.

I was curious - you say you bought this off the original owner - the original delivery ticket in the manual lists a used car dealership as the original owner. Do you know if this was the owner's personal mower/snow plow tractor? Or did they use it at the dealership?

Originally from New Jersey, but I moved to PA within the last year and just recently found out this tractor was sold new by a dealership 20 minutes from where I live now, which is still in business. What a small world...

Getting around the area too...funny how things come full circle. Now it's living 20 minutes from where it was originally sold, and has lived in two states.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
