bad spark
Thanks again for your input. As for the diodes not affecting spark, one can. The diode from the far side burnt out last year and caused the other plug to fire by backfeed from the other coil. Causing it to run poor but run it did. When the second diode cooked it just backfired and would not run at all, both backfeeding to the other plug. That is when one of you so kindly told me about the diodes and it was a quick cheep fix.
You were right again, a fuel pump working, but not with enough pressure to lift the carb needle. I took the top off the carb, removed the needle and gas shot out a foot when cranking but I replaced the needle, not the float, and no gas when cranking it over, with my finger over the needle hole to keep it from popping out. I noticed there was not a wire clip on the needle to put over the float tab to lift it. Its out to get a pump and to see if a carb kit has the clip included tomorrow. It got the engine cleaned out under the covers anyway. Thank you so much for your help. Rick |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
