I have never come even close to running out of power with a twin cylinder Briggs or Kohler engine and that includes the 14 Vanguard. I have run out of traction at the wheels.

Your requirements may be different.

And I agree, the exhsust stack on th e 2182 is great looking

You DO NOT have to lengthen the frame to get the Kubota in. The hoods on ALL Cub Cadets are the same, even Supers.

In a 1440, I'd probably not go to the time and trouble of installing a Kubota. It's not really that easy unless you have a 2182 for parts.

Putting a WG600 in a 1440 is doable but not worth the cost or effort. You would need all of the special Cub mounts, battery support, radiator and you would need a custom drive shaft all NLA. You would need side panels from a 2182 or 1782 both NLA. Then without power steering the extra weight of the engine would make it harder to steer. Just my 2 cents, I'd look for a Vanguard out of a 2000 series Cub like a 2160.

If you go with a CH you'll need the exhaust system from something like an 1863, 1864, 2084 or 2284. You'll need a drive shaft from an 1863 or 1864.

Interesting.....a lot of good info I neede!! Thank you guys....I will stick with your advice and hold off on the repower. I dont really NEED the extra power, it just seemed like an interesting idea. I think buying the 2182 is more realistic from the advice given...thanks!!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
