A couple pics of the pump adapter. If you look at yours a chunk of it is missing where a bolt goes through it.

You cannot compare the two pedistal's. They are for two completely different hood set-ups. Sure, one is taller. The cyclops front grille housing is shorter too. More slanted hood. The two ARE NOT comparable.

Make the steel hoods work. If the only issue is that it hits the air filter housing..... fix it. It should not need spacers under the front grille. Remember, they tucked the diesel into those exact same hoods before they ever built the cyclops series. It WILL FIT!

I looked all over both ends of my driveshaft and do not see any grease zirks...what's the odds that I don't have any?

Thank you for the pictures, and I see now what you mean about it being broken. That's really weird how it came apart there...would that be caused merely by the vibrations in the driveline?

You make some good points, but don't forget the diesel powered Kubota has the air filter located down near where the carburetor is on this gasoline powered Kubota.

The parts book says they use the exact same parts...... the 2182 and the 1782. 782 was, maybe that's what you meant?

782D engine was mounted different yes... radiator was in front and air cleaner was mounted different. What I'm saying is, you should be able to make some minor changes and everything will fit fine. Really don't think it will take much.

The grease fittings are on the shaft just in front of the boot sometimes the boot will slip over the fittings. Pic shows the fitting with the CV joint removed.

I've never seen an adapter broken like yours but any way you need to replace it.

Bring it by, I have heat in my garage and a pressure washer. Well get it cleaned up real good and take a good look at it. I may not have all the answers but an extra set of eyes and ideas can't hurt. I greased my CVs on my driveshaft so I can show you where yours should be. I have my 882 and 2182 to look at for ideas to make the hood fit. As already said the Kubota engine fits under the hood on my 882 and your 782D so with some work it should fit under the steel hood on the 2182.

I swear this thing doesnt have any zirks on the driveshaft lol...I'll show you Sunday when I swing by, thanks for the invite!

Spent some time this morning reinstalling the original pedestal. This is about it, in regards to "extra stuff" received when I bought the tractor, so it looks like I'll be buying some used parts. Will obviously be needing a dash cover, and whatever type of handle setup there is for the hydraulic lift.

Was told by the previous owner that there was some sort of bushing on the steering shaft that he had to cut off, but I'm not sure what he meant? Can someone point me towards an exploded diagram?

Anyhow here's a couple pics from today.

This is my 1st Cyclops, and it appears I'm missing the hydraulic lift handle. The original handle seems to be NLA from the dealer, but there is a replacement available for $10. I've been scouring the net for photos and searching through threads, but am having a difficult time finding dash pictures for a Cyclops.

Could someone toss up a picture of either handle? I'm not sure if I want to find a good used example or purchase the replacement part.

Also, how many options for mowing decks did this have? I've heard people talk about 50 and 60 inchers...were there any smaller ones? This tractor didn't have a deck or undercarriage, I've no idea how different this mule drive would be compared to something like the setup that goes under my 1282/782.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
