100 feet tall! What kind of fertilizer do you use?

Whew. I thought maybe you weren't making the connection. But 100' trees are pretty tall.... I don't know what kind of trees there are in VA, but in Illinois a 100' tree would be so big around, that thing wouldn't touch it. No, I'm not interested to know.... this thread isn't about trees.

I have a 317 in surgery right now. Plan is to sell it. Deere's bring more money than Cubs.
Hope to use the money from the sale to put a motor in my 318 (keeper) and start work on my 982. I can't get pics to load..... I'll try after while. They need resized.

Here is a pic, these cut ones are twice as long as the knuckle boom trailer,, the knuckle boom trailer is like 40-50 feet long,,,

This pic is after the top is cut off, and left behind,,

There are no branches on the first 50-60 feet of the poplars,
oaks have branches starting at 30-40 feet.

These trees in the pic are smaller ones which are 20-25 inches DBH.

Fertilizer? this acreage is covered in limestone rocks, how many people buy lime for their lawn every other year?

My land is perfect for hardwood growth,, pine will not grow here,,,

(DBH = Diameter Breast Height)

OOPS,, I was wrong, by 20%,,,
I rode my 41HP JD up to the landing,, and stepped off these trees,,

These trees are over 120 feet long,, and they are not into the tall ones,, yet,,,

The tree furthest to the left is a poplar, the first branch was at 80 feet.

The canopy shading of the other trees causes the lower branches to fall off.

I like all brands of old lawn and garden tractors. I have a Bolens G8 that I saved from scrap, an Allis Chalmers 611 LTD which I also saved from scrap, a 1986 Deutz Allis 914 (Simplicity) I got with a blown rod and balance gears. I went through the engine on it, and 2 John Deere 110 square fender tractors. One is a 68 with the k181, I have that one apart to paint and the other one is a later one with the k241, I haven't picked that one up yet. Would really like to get a Massey Ferguson MF10/MF12 or a Sperry New Holland s14/s16. I am only 19 and own 8 tractors and don't see myself slowing down

Nice collection,, variety of machines allows you to enjoy what each brand is best at.

Most pullers are convinced there is magic in a Cub Cadet,,
plow guys seem to think the JD's do best there,,
I had an Ariens that had features that put it ahead of any GT I ever owned,,

Hydraulics, and lift capabilities put that tractor at the head of the class,,

Some guy with too much $$$$ stopped me from restoring the Ariens,,,

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
