Thanks everyone for the kind words.
Today I got the front pulley off. Hey, it wasn't easy, but it's off.
Sometimes things don't always go as planned. And you have to do what you have to do. Ended up cutting the darn thing off
Popped the valves out also.

Looks great Todd. I just got all my O stuff blasted and will be doing the same. I feel like a newbie, just realized on my 181 that the valves aren't adjustable just like the 161, have to grind them to adjust clearance, weird. How do yours look? Bummer about the pulley. Did you try to heat it it all?

Had it soaked in PB since Sunday. Cleaned out the set screw holes to find them goobered up from someone in it's past. So there was no way they were coming out. I tried drilling them but that wasn't working either, so as a last ditch effort I tried a puller while applying heat and that did nothing at all, so.....cut it off
It'll never be a tractor used for mowing or throwing, so the drive isn't a big deal. Just still sucks having to cut anything up.
On the valves. They to have seen better days.

Diff drained, found some gunk, it was a little watery also.
Got the dash tower and steering tube removed. Getting it stripped down.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
