Everyone, Gunner and I would like to thank you for all the well wishes and prayers. The old boy is doing good, we know it's not a cure, but he's feeling better, and as you can see, sleeping well.
At his age there isn't much more to do, it's going to be a pretty good Christmas knowing he will still be around for awhile longer.
Thank you again!

Thoughts and prayers going up for Gunner and your family. We are also dog people. Our boy Jake (black and tan chihuahua) is a huge part of our family. We don't have any children so he is our child. He turns 10 in January. Can't believe where the time has gone. We got him when he was 6 weeks old and he fit in the palms of our hands. Our babies hold a special place in our hearts. Cherish the time that you have with him and spend as much time as you can with him. That's all he wants. He knows that you love him and trusts you to make the best decisions for him.

Todd, they are more than "just a dog..." I have more respect for most dogs than I do some people! I guarantee that a dog will stick by your side more than most people. I hope he makes it a while longer. I lost my German Shepherd a week before I got married, that's been 9.5 years ago now. I had him from the time I was 8 till I was 21. He had cancer too and he didn't make it past the surgery to remove the mass. Gunner will be in my prayers, I don't think God would have gave us dogs/cats if he didn't intend for us to take care of them along the way too.

Thanks for the kind words all. He's sort of enjoying all the attention, like he never got it before. He really thinks he's got the world by the tail with his food. I have to water it down so it's soft, that way there's less chance of him biting his jowl. Anyway, it makes a gravy with the water, and he's all over that
The only problem is his son Ruger, now he thinks his food should smell good like that too. Once and awhile I sneek a little water in his to, but the dry is better for cleaning his teeth. The old boy has been eating dry all his life, and the teeth look darn good.
Well, he made it through Christmas without a hitch, and the lump still seems to be gone, so I'll keep my fingers crossed.
Thanks again

Glad Gunner is doing well, Todd. Here's our little buddy, Jenn mentioned earlier. He'll be 10 years old in January.

Allen, I've always heard that owners look like their pets, or pets like their owners.... something like that. Now I see it! haha Nothing like a pooch!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
