About 5 years ago I had a health wake up call,( I am getting old)
and I didn't want my kids to to have to deal with a lot of vintage Green farm equipment.
After trying to sell it to some "collectors" that would not give scrap prices I hauled it to the scrap yard, one load @ a time
They gave me between .08 to .10 a pound, prices were up as China was buying it all.
I sold about #40,000
5 years later I don't miss one piece of it, but do miss the ability to say I have that piece of equipment.
I did sell a 1936 18" one bottom plow, and a 4-14" trailer plow to a guy who does plow days with 2 cyl green tractors.
That makes me happy that they are being used.
Getting old is not what it was promoted to be when I was young.

I know where your coming from George. Once I was able to run with the "BIG DOGS". These days I set on the porch and think of the good ole days.

Price isn't horrible, just a bunch of work there it appears. The one missing an air cleaner, well that ain't good. I'd say ALL of them are going to require a bit of work to put back in service. Saying that, do you have the time/skill/money/shop to do that? IF you are trying to flip for cash, don't think you would ever make a dime--maybe lose money. Now if you start taking them apart and selling in pcs (would probably have to be willing to ship stuff), might be some money there. So what exactly is your "motivation"--in need of a lawnmower, flipping for cash, something to do because you like to tinker? The answer to that will help determine how good of a deal it is for you.

Thank you for all the responses. And I’ve decided not to purchase the cub cadets. I would like to buy 1 older, IH, cub cadet that needs some work. Nothing major wrong with it for a reasonable price.
Thanks again for advice and guidance.

Not to burst your bubble but....
Older Cub Cadets that may "need some work" but apparently "have nothing much wrong" can very quickly turn into money pits once you get into them.

But you may get lucky!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
