Default A good deal for a newbie?

hey folks!

I'm new to this forum as well as new to the world of garden tractors, having just purchased a 3 acre ranch property last year.

I'm going to check out this 2084 later today - any thoughts about whether this is a fair deal, and is this baby a good entry point into the Cub world?

https://sacramento.craigslist.org/gr...489383543.html

thanks!
Jacob

Did that guy use PVC to extend the filler neck??? If that's a direct fit, that's genious and gives me an idea for my own machine...

If you think you need that big of a tractor, it looks like a decent deal. Little high, IMHO. It is a cyclops, but just has a 20hp twin, no options on it and a GT deck. Just an overgrown lawn mower really. But it's in good shape. You're call. I think $900 is a better price for what it is. But, I don't know how plentiful CC's are in Cali.

Agree with Jon. One side panel is busted. That is $200 + decal. The rear hitch has been messed with- so make sure rear end/frame bolts are intact. Who knows what they were pulling. How many hours? Has the rear fender been painted? Previous owner modification gas cap is very odd. How does it vent? Make sure no holes in that deck. If under 500 engine hours and SGT's are scarce, then maybe. Beat them down due to side panel cost.

I'd try for $1000.00 but $1200.00 is probably realistic in Cali.

Looks like the cap for a race gas jug on the fuel tank.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
