dkish,
Nice find. Great way to start out... at the beginning with an O. I think that once you spend some time with her you will be fixing the deck just to get in some more time using it. :biggrin2.gif: |

i will post more pictures later this week after i degrease and steam clean this ol girl. i like to make most repairs and get everything working before i tear down for restoration, but i must say, i kinda like the way it looks wearing its work clothes! i think it was parked long ago because of a center deck bearing failure. i added a quart of diff lube because it was low, and i wanted to stir things up a bit before changing the fluid. now i have oil running out the lower left center of the rear end. ill have to track it down and see why its leaking.
a guick thanks for all the info i have received on this forum. Dave |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
