The later wide frames had the serial number tag on the left side of the frame. I had a 1974 128, and it had the tag there.

On the 1X8/1X9 series, the later ones had the serial number plates on the left side of the frame like the picture. I can't remember off the top of my head when they switched from the rear axle to the frame. The 529111 serial number is I assume the original number for the 108, making it a late one. One of the last serial numbers for this series before the quietlines is around 529700 IIRC. The kind code before the actual serial number will state the 108 model. The number on the rear axle would be original to the 126 since the rear is from a 126. Can tell from the shape of the shifter, too. My 129 has the serial on the rear axle and my 149 and 169 have them on the frame. Nice 108 ya have. I too love the look of the ags and weights on the back. These things sure move snow, too.

Those are brand new Tru powers. I bought them and the weights because i have a pretty steep hill to go up in my backyard, to reach the level area i mow. Had to have the weights to use the blade as well, i'm gonna try to move some dirt this spring with her.
I'm wondering, can i use my 108 manual to work on the clutch, since it's a 126? When i looked up the serial numbers at cubcadet.com, the diagram for the clutch on a 126 looked very similar to the clutch on a 108. Thanks

Great looking 108 Tommy, sounds like a throwout bearing issue to me..I have the same problem with a couple of my gear drives.

I also have the same wheel weights on my 1211..the added 75# per wheel really helps.

Thanks Wild Bill. That's what i thought. thetucks post and pictures are a big help as well. I'm getting the itch to take her apart. I'll post pixs too. If it's bad, i hope Mark Hellrung has complete clutch assembly's for wide frames too.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
