K-341 Questions
I have the opportunity to trade a K-241 AQS to a guy for a K-341 AQS to re-power my 1000 QL. The guy tinkers with Kohler engines in general and is not sure if the K-341 he has came out of a JD or a Cub (he thinks it came from a Cub, but....).
Is there a quick way (without tearing the engine down) to determine if this engine will fit the 1000 QL? My understanding is that the Kohler engines used in the JD had different cranks and oil pans. Can Cub components be swapped into this engine block (crank, oil pan, etc)? What other items may cause issues? What should I be looking for, before I make this trade? Thanks GEL

All Kohler Motors have a Spec (specification) Number. That number indicates the specific build and options for a customer (ie: Cub Cadet, Simplicity, etc)
As long as the Spec Number matches the ones IH used, there would be no problems transplanting a larger motor. Click on this link for IH Spec number information...... Spec Numbers

You need to look and see if it is a wide base or narrow base block. Cubs used narrow base blocks.
Basically if there is a lip on the bottom of the block with mounting holes That bolts can go down through, it is a wide base. Narrow base blocks are mounted with bolts that come up into the oil pan.
