My father in law bought a white and yellow 782 last year that had the same 38" deck. The PO said her grandfather bought it new and had a narrow gate to go through so he got it with a 38" deck. Big machine for such a small deck.

My 782 has a 50" deck, it is too big. My wife has several flower gardens in the yard, the walk paths between them do no like the 50"er.

The 1450 is coming along. This weekends' repairs included the headlights, the fuse holder for the electric PTO, fixing loose fasteners for the muffler box, and the most necessary of all - flipping that hydraulic lift handle! I've seen it done before, but was not aware that it was VERY simple to do! Suprised that I don't see more 1450s and 1650s like this!
I also picked up an A-style mule drive that will get new pulleys and a quick paint job over the next week. She's coming along, shakes and all. Now to decide on 44 or 50A deck... (oh, and don't tell anyone, but I'm going to Mt. Joy in the morning to get the loaded 100 on CL... fingers crossed)

its still spring, and i'm still waiting... hoping for a 10x16 high wall by Memorial day. Mommy is almost sold on it, have to approach this gingerly with her. She knows what yellow fever has done to me (heck, I'm even buying quiet lines now)

50"
If you lawn layout allows it the 50" is a nice deck. Looks like a road way in one swipe. I have a 1450 and a 1650, I currently have my 50" on the 1450 and it handles it nicely. One thing really nice about the 50" is it sticks out far enough on the left hand side to be able to trim around curved beds easily. The 1450 came with a 44" but I have to do something about the bearings. As they are the ST745 cartridge bearings Around $80.00 a pop. I am contemplating on fabricating new spindle shafts and retrofitting with standard ball bearings.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
