Sleeve it or Leave it?
This picture of my damaged K301 block was posted in the pulling section, Project: Nemesis. No information as what to I should do was posted. I thought about leaving it because I didn't see any scuffing or damage to the piston. Should I sleeve it, leave it alone, or find a different block?

Had the same problem
I just had the same discovery yesterday. I opted to replace mine with a different block. My son found one in Tulsa for $60, in good condition. Did you notice any crack in the crankcase where the rod might have hit it? Mine had a good size crack in it where the crank smacked it.
The opinion here was throw it away, get another block. Dave |

I would just lightly debur the broken edges and run it, if that is all the damage done. |

+1...grind all of the broken area smooth so there are no stress concentrations and it'll probably be fine.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
