Uggh! Well, I hope it stays together than the Onans did. It sure looks like a direct bolt-in, being that it uses the mufflers and other hook-ups that the original engine did...

Tom,
Nice find on the 982. She's a beast! Gotta love dual exhausts, Onan or not Todd, Looks like the grill has the mesh screen, but it also has the small bars in between the large rectangles. So, not an early grill just has the added mesh.

Tom nice 982
Hope your lx790 holds up better than mine I got about 2 seasons use out of it before it slung a piston rod and knocked a big chunk out of the cylinder wall. They don't make these engines anymore either.

Well, it seems there is just now way to keep a good motor in a 982, then, LOL! I'm not too worried about this one letting go; it's only going to get limited light use in turn through rotation of my collection. If the tractor is here long term and it does let go, I'll find a good M-18 to drop in it and seek all the experts help here to get it coupled to the hydro.
BIGMOZEKE, I had a feeling this one caught your eye, but yes, it came to a good home, and if I decide to let it go after I go through it and play with it a while, I will post it here first. RMOWL, PM me with an email or phone number if you want more local info or want to stop by one day. EC Brew Pub is a good dive. Stop by to see the Cubs, then take the wife there, it's only a few minutes away!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
