It's not a big deal to chat in a thread, but you just need to post questions in the right section. That way, people who can help you will see it. If you post a technical question in a "what is it worth" thread, people may not see it. Doesn't hurt the forum, and it's not that big of a deal as far as rules go, it just hurts you in getting an answer.

No harm, no foul. Just start a new thread and we'll help you there.

Certainly time to start threads in the correct forum so you'll get a larger quantity and more informative replies. If you just have general questions about a 782 I'd make just one thread. If you have to get really detailed on the engine, or possibly the deck, I'd make separate threads for them in the appropriate forum as well. I doubt there is any question you can ask about a 782 that this crew can't answer. I think sometimes the hardest part about the 82 series is knowing which forum to post in--IH or CCC built machines. If it gets in the wrong one the moderators are generally nice enough to move it. Don't forget, post pics when you can---I swear you'll get more responses that way!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
