Default S/G K161 vs K341

Is there a difference in the S/G for a 7hp K161 and a 16HP K341.
I have a new 375 cca battery and used a new "k161 s/g" but it will barely turn over a rebuilt K341.

Any help much appreciated.

There may be a slight difference in the S/G's. There also can be a difference in the Pulley, depending if the engine has the ACR feature.

With out Tractor Model numbers, that is the best I can offer.

I took 2 of them into my rebuilder this spring.
According to him, one was a regular unit and one was a hi-torque unit.
Looked then same to me except for the part numbers is all.

According to Cubcadet.com parts, the starter generators for model 72 (k161) is the same for 169 (k341). Earlier models had some variations such as pulleys and the little oilers at the bearing caps.

The old farts books come in handy for looking up part numbers and comparing them to the other model wf.

The K321 uses the 1101691 S/G and the 393620-R1 pulley.
The K341 uses the 1101692 S/G and the 393620-R1 pulley.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
